Our goal is to educate students, health professionals, and community members about health equity and the health disparities that exist among marginalized communities.
Dr. Robert Braun, CHES
Dr. Robert Braun completed his doctoral degree in Health Education at the University of Toledo. He earned his M.P.H. in Health Promotion/Disease Prevention from George Washington University and a B.S. in Allied Health Professions from The Ohio State University. Before his current position as an Associate Professor of Public Health Education, he worked on and off as a registered respiratory therapist for over 16 years.
He also holds the CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) credential and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist. His research is focused on health disparities among communities of color. He and his students have worked on many research projects which have been presented at both state and national conferences.
Currently, Dr. Braun resides in Westerville with his wife, Kawaki, and daughter, Victoria.
Chris Saylor, CHES
Chris Saylor is a 2017 Public Health Education graduate of Otterbein University. He is a Certified Health Education Specialist working as the Manager of Community Health at CompDrug in Columbus, Ohio. He has experience in Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction, Tobacco Prevention and Indoor Radon Prevention. Chris has interests in educating health disparities and the social determinants of health and how they affect communities.
Chris is a resident of Pataskala, Ohio and he lives with his wife Riley, Chocolate Lab Hank and Weimaraner Brodi.
Mariah Nevels, MHA
Mariah Nevels is a Business Operations Manager at Mount Carmel Health Systems. Mariah has earned her Masters of Healthcare Administration from Franklin University, she completed her undergraduate studies at Otterbein University where she received a degree in Public Health and Business Management.
Mariah is passionate about education centered on social determinants of health and health disparities.
